Captured above Arizona’s Rim Country, Heavenly Clouds preserves a quiet evening when towering cloud formations lit up with soft amber and gold from the setting sun. The layers of light and shadow gave the clouds an almost sculpted appearance, creating a scene that felt both peaceful and dramatic at the same time.
The title came from my stepfather, who immediately called it “Heavenly Clouds” the first time he saw the image, and the name simply stuck. There was something about the softness of the light, the depth in the clouds, and the feeling of openness in the sky that gave the scene an almost unreal quality—like looking upward into a painted sky just before the day faded away.
