About the Artist
Growing up in Tempe, Arizona, I rarely went anywhere without my camera.
Arizona’s landscape is so diverse that I never ran out of amazing things to
photograph. I loved taking pictures on my trips, and could hardly wait to get the
film developed and see how they turned out. Digital photography has now
changed all of that. I no longer worry about how many rolls I can carry (or what
they’ll cost to develop!).
When I was in college, I studied traditional darkroom photography at Arizona
State University. That foundation led me to landscape photography and my
signature Photo Art, my own approach to taking an image beyond the original
capture and into something more vibrant and artistic. More recently, I developed
a specialized backlit photographic medium where light passes through the image
from behind, bringing out color and depth you don’t see in a standard print.
Watching people react to these pieces has been one of the real pleasures of this
work.
For me, photography has always been about capturing something worth
remembering. If one of my photographs inspires you to pause, look a little
longer, or see the Southwest in a new light, then I’ve accomplished exactly what I
set out to do.

The original Arizona Photo Store celebrated the color, light, and character of the Southwest through carefully curated photographic prints. From sweeping desert horizons to quiet small-town moments, each image is selected to reflect the spirit and story of Arizona. Printed with attention to detail and craftsmanship, these pieces are designed to bring warmth, authenticity, and a sense of place into your home or office—artwork that feels rooted, real, and unmistakably Southwestern.
Photography in a New Light
Inspired by a spectacular illuminated mural in Scottsdale, I spent three years developing and perfecting Azra’s Exclusive Backlit Media. By combining specialized photographic media with LED-illuminated frames, our images come alive with extraordinary color, detail, and depth that traditional prints simply cannot match. This is where my photography takes a playful turn—remixed with creative filters, motion blends, and bold palettes. Some pieces are graphic, others luminous and surreal, but all begin with real Arizona landscapes.
