Look Up

Price range: $29.00 through $999.00

“Look UP!” was born completely by accident. I was at Snowbowl in northern Arizona on a crisp fall day, goofing around and tossing handfuls of leaves with friends while trying to catch photos of them drifting through the air. We were laughing, not taking anything too seriously, when I suddenly glanced straight up — and everything changed. Above me was a glowing canopy of gold and fiery red aspens framed by a brilliant alpine sky. It stopped me in my tracks.
I dropped right onto the forest floor, pointed the camera upward, and the scene came alive in a way I hadn’t expected. From that perspective, the aspens formed a radiant mosaic that felt almost like a natural cathedral ceiling. Snowbowl, known mostly for its skiing, becomes a wonderland of color in autumn, but looking up from the ground revealed a view most people never think to look for.
What started as a playful moment became my most popular photograph to date — a reminder that some of the best images come when you slow down, embrace the moment, and simply look up.

“Look Up!” came out of a day that wasn’t really about getting the perfect shot. I was up at Snowbowl in northern Arizona, messing around with friends, tossing leaves and trying to catch them midair. It was one of those just-have-fun kind of days. At some point I stopped and looked straight up, and that’s when it hit. The aspens were lit up in gold and red, and the sky behind them was that deep alpine blue. It didn’t feel like the same place anymore—it completely shifted the moment. I dropped to the ground, pointed the camera straight up, and everything started to come together. From that angle, the trees wrapped in on themselves and created something that felt more like a ceiling than a forest. This one’s gone on to become my most favorited piece by far. It started as a throwaway moment and turned into something people really connect with. It’s a good reminder that sometimes the best shots aren’t planned—you just have to stop, look up, and take it in.
