Grand Falls, also known as Chocolate Falls, is one of Arizona’s most spectacular sights after a heavy runoff. Thick, chocolate-colored water thundered over the cliffs as a massive desert monsoon built behind me, leaving only a short window to photograph the scene. Reaching the falls meant crossing flooded washes, but arriving at just the right moment made every mile of the adventure worthwhile.
