On a perfect spring drive south from Pine, something told me to pull over—and I’m glad I did. What I expected to be a quick stop became nearly four hours photographing the Superstition Mountains and the iconic Weaver’s Needle. Just days later, the 2020 Bush Fire forever changed much of this landscape. This image preserves one remarkable afternoon before it was transformed forever.
